Destinations: Paro – Thimphu – Sight Seeing – Punakha – Taksang
Arrive Paro and visit Rinpung Dzong – the fortress temple and the center of political and spiritual power of the region. Also visit KyichuLhakhang – the oldest monastery in Bhutan built in 7th century. Later drive to Thimphu and transfer to the hotel.
Full day in Thimphu. After breakfast Memorial Chorten, Bhutan Textile Museum, Buddha Dordenma statue, Motithang Takin Preserve, Tango Monastery, at 4.30 pm reach the Tashichho Dzong and see the Flag De-Hoisting Ceremony. Later visit the Dzong. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan crossing the picturesque Dochu passes – with panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain ranges. Visit ChimiLhakhang (stands on a round hillock and was built in 1499 by the 14th Drukpa hierarch, Ngawang Choegyel, after the site was blessed by the “Divine Madman” the maverick saint Drukpa Kunley)– 45 Minutes walkfrom the main road. Later transfer to the hotel.
After breakfast visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong (PungtangDechenPhotrangDzong – meaning “the palace of great happiness or bliss). Later drive to Paro via Thimphu and visit ZorigChusum School of Traditional Arts. Take a halt at the view point and have a panoramic view of the TashichhoDzong. Arrive Paro and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Paro.
Full day excursion to Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) Hermitage on the face of a sheer 1000 m cliff. The place is highly sacred to the Bhutanese in that they believe Guru Rinpoche, the father of Bhutanese Buddhism landed here on the back of a tigress. Later back the Paro town and have free time at the market. Overnight at the hotel.
After very early breakfast transfer to the airport and proceed to next destination.
